About FCIPMAPS
Purpose
FCIP Maps is a community archive dedicated to one game: Far Cry Instincts: Predator on Xbox 360. Its goal is to preserve, organise, and share the multiplayer maps players created with the game's built-in map editor.
Why preservation matters
Community maps represent years of creativity, but they live on aging hard drives, memory units, and forgotten websites. When those disappear, the maps disappear with them. Keeping them in one organised place — with their creators credited — means they can still be played, studied, and enjoyed.
Originally released for Xbox 360 on March 28, 2006, Far Cry Instincts: Predator celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2026. Two decades later, the creativity of its map-making community remains worth preserving. Established during this anniversary year, FCIP Maps aims to ensure these creations and their history are not lost to time.
History and inspiration
FCIP Maps draws inspiration from the former FCMAPS.net community, established by Taylor, which served as a home for Far Cry map creators and enthusiasts. Through the dedication of contributors such as Fallen Champ and many others, the community helped preserve and share countless player-created maps.
FCIP Maps aims to carry that legacy forward by providing a modern, independent archive dedicated to preserving the creativity, history, and contributions of the Far Cry Instincts: Predator mapping community.
Looking ahead
Beyond preserving the archive, the long-term aim is to research how FCIP map files are structured, document historical map-editing techniques, and explore whether independent map modification tools are feasible. These are intentions, not promises.
